A couple of weeks ago I learned that FILM.UA Television shoots a new project for the "Inter" - "The fear in your house". The name intrigued me: mystic shows on "Inter"? How come? Later it became clear that the project is not mystical, but social: how production managed to interest channel, which produced different social experiments, one after another.
So, I went to the author and the head of the project Tatiana Nosenko. It turned out that the idea of "Fear" arose by accident while working on a completely different program:
- We were casting psychologists on the next project - says Tatiana. – And I had a conversation with a person who has worked with people affected by domestic violence. What he told me really impressed me so much that I started searching for information on the Internet. And, frankly, could not even imagine how scary and widespread it is.
- And how is it?
- According to statistics, it considers every fourth family. Thousands of women die each year from domestic violence.
- In Ukraine?
- Yes. And in Russia it is even more globally. The problem is reaching epidemic proportions and, of course, one want to talk about it, I want to help people with all possible means. This is not the norm, as many people think, but a tragedy, misfortune, which can and must be solved.
- As much as I understand, such stories are silenced?
- Well, ypu know how they say - Abuse is a sign of love. This is Slavic mentality. But not only women suffer. Women - in the majority, but there are victims among children, men, old men. Because violence can not only be physical or sexual, it can also be moral and financial. The most unexpected situations can arise in families. And the size of the tragedy is impressive.
- In what format these stories will come out on the screen?
- This is a docudrama with the answers to people's concerns - applicable story based on real events. And experts are psychologists and lawyers - experts who can really help.
- They will tell you what to do?
- Yes. First, one must understand that this is not normal, and secondly, to know what to do. In developed countries, legislative bodies take care about solving the problem. The aggressors undergo compulsory treatment (like alcoholics and drug addicts), special programs, and thus eliminate the trouble. We do not have such programs, but there are centers of care, which can be accessed at any time of the day. Often a woman with a child runs into the street barefoot and does not understand where to go. You can call center at any time, you will be taken care of, given a bed, clothes, food, and then psychologists, lawyers talk to you and help. No one talks about it and, consequently, few people know about this.
If husband beats his wife, she does not go anywhere, so the real extent of the problem can only be imagined. And so I am doubly grateful to the general producer of FILM.UA Victor Mirsky for his belief in the project, he supported us and helped.
- And when did you start working on it?
- Development process started in late May, the pilot was shot in September, and then we prepared the script - typed stories, talked with people, care centers, psychologists, lawyers, volunteers. Later, word of mouth engaged: people have started to call and share their stories.
- When it will be broadcasted?
- In autumn. We’ve planned 60 episodes, each of which is someone's personal tragedy.
- Tell me more about the production process.
- Since the beginning of June, we starting shooting. We have six director and three technical groups.
- Why do you need so many?
- Technology, complex scheduling tied to conditions. For example, we have decided to use location-base, because so many of our stories take place in the apartments.
- How does it work?
- This is a reconstruction of a huge house. Just in a day or two a flat of people of moderate means turns in a mansion that requires careful planning of each group. It's complicated, but so far it turns out good and easily producible. Of course, you can’t call this development a nanotechnology, but in a week we can change everything dramatically. As a producer I’m not scared of risking, because I can see the hot-eyed team. Guys think out something on their own, notice something and come up with interesting offers.
- And how many?
- If to remember all of them, then there are more than 70 people.
events, she remembered a very sad story:
- We reconstructed the story of a woman who has lost her husband. And the actress, who participated in the shooting, fainted twice. Later it turned out that her own husband had recently died, that’s why she had such reaction ... Even the actors sometimes recognize themselves in these stories and suffer painful situation on the set. This happens because of typicality of the situation, which once again confirms the enormity of the tragedy.
- I guess it is hard to deal with similar stories every day.
- Well, all our directors have become psychologists (smiles). Our project differs from other dokudramas with real life stories that do not come up with any writer. And that’s why they are good, because they are recognizable among the people who have suffered this.
Therefore, directors have become psychologists: they guard the team, trying to be friendly. We understand what we are doing, and indifferent people, probably would not work in our project.
That’s enough information for now. But I promise you a detailed report about the shooting process, it will be interesting for professionals.
