TV Guide visited the set of the TV series "The Sniffer" and had a talk with one of the main characters.
- Ivan, are you afraid of doing stunts?
- No, but I reckon that this should be done by professionals. After all, if you're not confident or not prepared physically, you may stop the filming process, which will be irresponsible thing to do.
- You said you don't like guns. Why?
- When you are a teen knives and guns attract you. Of course, this is in mens blood, but since by first education I'm a musician, I have musical instruments in the first flight. My rejection of weapon is primarily due to the Nord Ost, when in 2002, terrorists seized the theater, where I worked and I was a hostage from the first to the last minute of confrontation.
— Do you shoot a lot in Kiev?
— Last two years I spent in Kiev. I do love Kiev. For me and my wife it's a perfect city. I'm very happy to come back.
- Don't you want to go to the West?
- Only if I am invited, I don't want to go there on my own. Soviet cinema has developed its own narrative language, because no one would ever think to compare "Love and Pigeons" with any foreign film, or with whom you can compare our Yevgeny Leonov and Bohdan Stupka? I am happy I have offers here.
- What actor you admire?
- Nikolai Grinko. He played divinely. Think of his completely opposite roles - Professor in "The Adventures of Electronics", Mister Geppetto in "Pinocchio" or Daniel Cherny in "Andrei Rublev". It's a talent that has no equal. And now we are unfortunately forced to imitate Western models. I want this sad period to pass and see the revival of our cinematic language.
