On February 19th at 10:30 PM on "1+1 Ukraine", the television premiere of the anthology series "Those Who Stayed", produced by FILM.UA Group, will take place. It consists of 6 artistic short films inspired by real events that occurred during the first two months of the full-scale invasion. The series became the first Ukrainian TV project, with its digital premiere on Netflix simultaneously with Ukraine in 18 European countries: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Moldova, Baltic and Balkan countries.
Each episode tells a separate story; Olga with children is forced to live in the same house with two men — present and former; Maxim finds himself at work during the war, in the zoo, where he cannot leave; a homeless man living in a car helps the local Red Cross, and a boy named Yegor calms down by imagining himself knocking down rockets like angry birds; German Klaus comes to Kyiv to take a girl but ends up among volunteers and joins their work, and the legend of the Ukrainian stage, whose prototype was Andriy Danylko, spends the siege from his capital apartment — and becomes an inspiration to millions.
A whole galaxy of popular Ukrainian actors starred in the series: Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Viacheslav Babenkov, Antonina Khyzhniak, Oksana Zhdanova, Roman Lutskyi, Taras Tsymbaliuk, Kateryna Varchenko, Viktor Zhdanov, Viacheslav Dovzhenko, Fabian Männel, Mariia Stopnyk, Liliia Tsvielikova.
The showrunner of the project is Anastasiya Lodkina — the screenwriter of successful films "Kosa Nostra" and "The Best Weekend". Six directors worked on the six stories of the Those Who Stayed" series: Oleksii Yesakov, Artem Lytvynenko, Pavlo Ostrikov, Tala Prystaietska, Valentyn Shpakov and Katia Tsaryk.
