• 06.01.2021

From now on, co-production projects can enjoy support from both of the countries at once.

Ukrainian and Canadian filmmakers now have better opportunities to produce movies together. On January 1, the agreement on co-production film studios took effect, and film producers are now able to receive full support from both countries for creating co-production projects.

In recent years, there were over 50 Ukrainian co-productions with other countries. FILM.UA Group is no exception to this trend. For example, the studio created The Rising Hawk historical action film together with the American company Cinema Day, Mr. Jones historical thriller together with Film Produkcja (Poland) and Jones Boy Film (UK), as well as the upcoming film Koza Nostra together with Pepito Produzioni from Italy.

With Canada being involved in over 60 international projects a year, the partnership between the countries is bound to be fruitful. Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, Larisa Galadza, Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Viktoria Yarmoshchuk, the executive director of Ukrainian Motion Picture Association and CEO of FILM.UA Group, and Reynolds Mastin, the President and CEO of Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) commented on the perspectives of the film industry in both countries.
