Pulse, Ukrainian sports drama, got four nominations at the international film festival in Polson (Montana, USA)

The film was nominated in four main categories at once:

  • Best Film – Pulse;
  • Best Director – Sergiy Chebotarenko;
  • Best Actress – Natalia Babenko;
  • Best Actor – Stanislav Boklan.

The jury gave high grades to the Ukrainian film: This is a story of personal triumph told with great sophistication. The film’s excellence is obvious everywhere: beautiful VFX, music, high-quality production and almost impeccable acting of the whole cast. It is great to see such gems as Pulse when you watch dozens of films per month. The film is a good candidate for the main prize.”  

“Being nominated in four categories is short of incredible, especially at an American festival; this is a great honor for me. I am very happy that Pulse deeply impressed the jury and was nominated for best film,” said Sergiy Chebotarenko, film director.  

“It is really great that the jury of an American film festival holds such high opinion of our movie, direction, and emotional acting of Ukrainian cast. We hope for awards and are really looking forward to Ukrainian premiere the following year!” said Egor Olesov, producer.

FLIC (FLATHEAD LAKE INTERNATIONAL CINEMAFEST) will take place on January 29-31 for the ninth time. A highly qualified jury is to determine the winners; the jury includes major players and professionals of the American film market. It is presided by David W. King, a producer and a screenwriter with over 40 years of experience in film and television who worked at such great studios as Universal, Disney, and 20th Century Fox.

Pulseis a sports drama and biopic based on a real story of Ukrainian champion Oksana Boturchuk. The film premiere was planned for March 19, 2020; however, due to COVID-19 pandemic it was postponed to 2021.  

The producer of Pulsefeature is KINOROB, with the support of Ukrainian Ministry of Culture. The official partner of the first Ukrainian feature about the life of athletes is Kyivstar, national mobile communications operator.*

Synopsis: A young Ukrainian track and field athlete lives in a small town and has a big dream – to make it to the Olympic Games. Her sports career is only starting but she demonstrates good results. However, due to a terrible car accident the girl suffers grave injuries and almost loses her eyesight.  It seems that now Oksana has lost all chances not just to make it to the coveted Olympic Games but also to live a normal life. However, the girl is not going to give up and plans to prove that there are no obstacles on the way to a real dream.
