The creators of the historical saga There Will Be Humans are asking social media users to share family stories and photos
On the 31st of August, a new flashmob #ібудутьлюди (#therewillbehumans) begins on social media. The idea belongs to the creators of a film in twelve episodes, There Will Be Humans (produced by FILM.UA with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information policy of Ukraine), based on the novel by Anatoly Dimarov. The film is set in the Poltava region in the early 20th century. In the tumultuous events that changed the lives of everyone – World War I, revolution, collectivization, and Holodomor. Each one chooses their own way and defends their own truth.
The initiators of the flashmob suggest to the social media users to share their family history – the photos and stories of their grandparents and parents, many of whom had gone through the same challenges as the characters of the film. The publications should contain the hashtag #ібудутьлюди for navigation.
With this flashmob, the creators of the series want to remind that the preservation of the history of Ukraine starts with every one of us: with our family tales about the lives of our grandmas and grandpas, their stories. From this, we first found out about important events in the history of Ukraine, try to imagine and understand how they have picked their path through life.
Earlier this August, project Our History, consisting of 9 videos, dedicated to the series, has appeared on social media pages of the project and STB TV channel. In them, the actors of There Will Be Humans introspect on what’s most important: family, homeland, history, love, friendship, faith. First, they do it from the standpoint of their characters and then from their own. This is what we suggest to the participants of the flashmob to do – to look on the history of their family as a part of Ukrainian history as a whole.
