Call for entries: LINOLEUM Animation Festival 2020

LINOLEUM International Animation Festival opens submissions for its next edition. The festival will be held September 2-6, 2020, in Kyiv, Ukraine.

 

The objective of the festival is to encourage and celebrate creativity among animators and media artists as well as promote contemporary animation and media art in Ukraine.

Only films made after June 2019 are accepted for selection. The running time of the film must not exceed 30 minutes.

Competition categories:

· International Competition

· Nation Competition (for Ukrainian directors)

· Commissioned Film Competition (commercials and music videos)

Besides the competition programs, LINOLEUM will consist of screenings of experimental animation and video art, animation for children, Ukrainian retrospective, screenings of international festival programs, workshops and master classes.  


This year’s theme is BECOMING HUMAN. It’ll try to explain what exactly makes us a human. Due to its surreal nature, animation can work in the field of metaphysics, religion, psychology and anthropology, exploring areas of our experience that are elusive to other forms of art or science.

 

Films can be submitted via film freeway

Deadline: 15 May 2020

The list of selected short films will be announced June 22nd, 2020.
