The official trailer for ‘The Rising Hawk’ historical action film premieres!

A new trailer of the most anticipated autumn release in Ukraine had appeared on social media. It’s a trailer for historical action film ‘The Rising Hawk’ based on the emblematic novel ’Zakhar Berkut’ written by Ivan Franko.

This movie was directed by Akhtem Seitablayev in cooperation with his American colleague John Wynn, produced by Kinorob and Cinema Day with the support from Ukrainian State Film Agency. It will be premiered on big screens on October 10th, 2019.

Ivan Franko International Foundation is a partner and consultant for this film. General media partner and broadcaster is Ukraina TV channel.

Earlier this year we presented a teaser-trailer for the project – a new promotional format for the Ukrainian market, but a common practice for Hollywood majors at the post-production stage. Teaser-trailer is available through this link.

This historical action became one the most anticipated premieres of this autumn in Ukraine, with tremendous professional and moviegoer audience’s attention turned to it. Work on the film took years. Hundreds of professionals from Ukraine and all around the world took part in it. There was a number of scouting expeditions to Carpathian Mountains. Historians and museum curators were involved in extensive consultations.

Filming was done on locations in the Carpathians, Synevir lake, and near Kyiv. Decorations of a spectacular mountain gorge, Tuhlya village, and Tuhar Vovk’s mansion.

Last year, a team of Hollywood colleagues had joined the project. Yuriy Karnovsky, Jeff Rice and Raja Collins produced the film from the American side.

The lead male part in ‘The Rising Hawk’ was performed by American actor Robert Patrick (‘Terminator 2’). Actors from Ukraine, USA, United Kingdom, Kazakhstan and Mongolia also performed in this movie: Alex MacNicoll, Tommy Flanagan, Poppy Drayton, Andriy Isayenko, Oleg Voloschenko, Tsegmid Tserenbold, Yerzhan Nurymbet, Alina Kovalenko, Rocky Myers, Oliver Trevena, Ayan Utepbergen, Viktor Zhdanov and others.

Filming required more than 250 mass scene actors, and two stunt teams: from Ukraine and Kazakhstan. A big international team of the film had more than 300 professionals in it.

More than 600 original costumes were created for this project. It includes more than 3000 units of clothing, hundreds of weaponry units, accessories, jewelry, cutlery. There were over 40 artisans, who researched historical clothing and designed costumes. Traditional craftsmen from different regions of Ukraine helped them in this work.

This historical action film was presented at many international film markets, where it provoked a significant interest among international audiences.

This project became a unique case in the Ukrainian film industry, not in the least due to its large scope and size. The Ukrainian premiere of ‘The Rising Hawk’ will take place on October 10th, 2019.

Slogan: Freedom is my nature

Synopsis: The year is 1241. The Mongol horde lead by cruel khan Burunda moves west, destroying everything in its path. Reaching the Carpathian mountains, the troops camp right below. However, at night several local hunters, the Berkut brothers, secretly enter the camp and free the hostages. Consumed with rage, the khan decides to take revenge and destroy the Carpathian settlements. A traitor amongst the locals tells the Mongols about a secret passage inside the mountains.
