FILM.UA Group is happy to announce the beginning of work on a new screen adaptation of Mykhailo Starytsky’s comedy “Chasing Two Hares”. The project is currently in development, and the crew is scheduled to start photography in 2020.
According to the film's producers Anna Yeliseyeva and Irina Kostyuk, the plot will be brought to our times, where the leading character will become an owner of a struggling barber shop, but the main conflict – that is, between love and profit – will be preserved.
“I received a synopsis for the new version of “Chasing Two Hares” from scriptwriter Oleksandr Hrytsenko”. The idea is so simple and ingenious, but to become a hit it requires flawless implementation. Made right, this film might as well become truly iconic, or even kick off a franchise” – Anna Yeliseyeva comments.
The crew is currently looking for a screenwriting team and potential partners for the film.
The comedy “Chasing Two Hares” (1883) by Mykhailo Starytsky has been adapted for the screen before – an eponymous film was made at the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio in 1961. The film has become iconic since.
