The comedy collected over 13 million UAH; 149,423 viewers saw it on big screens
On October 4, a star comedy Crazy Wedding had its wide Ukrainian release; the film was directed by Vlad Dykyi and produced by Prototyp Production and FILM.UA with the support of Ukrainian State Film Agency. During the first weekend of release, #BestComedyoftheYear collected 13,112,491 UAH, setting a new Ukrainian box office record among Ukrainian features. In the cinemas, the comedy was seen by 149,423 viewers. 
The previous box office leaders of the first weekend among Ukrainian feature films include DZIDZIO Contrabass (directed by Oleg Borschevsky, 2017) which collected 7,700,000 UAH and 102 thousand viewers during that period; The Stronghold fantasy feature (directed by Yuriy Kovalyov, 2017) – 8,200,000 UAH and 111 thousand viewers; and Cyborgs. Heroes Never Die military drama (directed by Akhtem Seitablayev, 2017) – 8,100,000 UAH and 106 thousand viewers respectively.
A surefire box office leader during the first weekend among all projects produced in Ukraine is animated feature The Stolen Princess produced by Animagrad. During the first day of release, the film collected 21,489,581 UAH; over 285 thousand viewers saw it in cinemas.
Just a reminder: the lead roles in Crazy Wedding were played by Nazar Zadniprovsky (Vasyl Seredyuk, bride’s father), French actor Jimmy Voha-Voha (François, the groom), Polina Vasylyna (Katya, the bride), Lesya Samayeva (Halyna, Vasyl’s wife), Oleksandr Kobzar (Taras, Vasyl’s neighbor), Vira Kobzar (Oksana, neighbor’s wife), Inna Prykhodko (Olga, neighbor’s daughter), Aram Arzumanyan (Ashot, neighbor’s son-in-law), and others.
Besides, professional actors were joined by show business celebs: Potap and MONATIK who played father Yevlampiy and deacon Pylypon; crazy producer Yuriy Gorbunov playing master of ceremonies Nazar Zapukhlyak; singer Oleg Vynnyk for whom it became a debut in Ukrainian cinema; Ukrainian YouTube star Oleksiy Suprun (Petro Bumper) and celebs from Laughter League – participant of Rizni comedy trio Anastasia Orudzhova and Zagoretska Lyudmyla Stepanivna duo, Viktor Rozovyi and Svyatoslav Antypov.
Hit soundtracks were created exclusively for the project by the film’s music producer Oleksiy Potapenko (Potap). The first official soundtrack to the comedy, Promin (The Ray), was sung by MOZGI, Michelle Andrade and Vremya i Steklo. The second official track, Naykrashchyi Den’ (The Best Day), was sung in duo by Potap (Oleksiy Potapenko) and Oleg Vynnyk. Producing center of Potap and Iryna Gorova MOZGI Entertainment also became the film’s co-producer.
What the film is about: Director of district museum of local lore Vasyl Seredyuk never expected such a twist when sending his daughter Katya to study in France – a month ago she announced she was getting married to a French heart surgeon François.
“The Seredyuks are a European family!” – this is the slogan everyone in the neighborhood heard personally from Vasyl. Imagine his surprise when he saw that the much-coveted European son-in-law was a Frenchman of African origin.
Organizing a wedding the way it never happens might seem like a brilliant idea at first. But when true love is in the way, the success of such plan is not a given.

After wide theatrical release the TV premiere of Crazy Wedding will take place on air of 1+1 TV channel.
Crazy Wedding became one of the winners at the 10th competitive selection of the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The film’s total budget is 10.8 million UAH, with 1.18 million provided by the Agency.
Earlier, Prototyp Production struck a deal with FILM.UA Group on full package of services on special conditions for production, promotion and distribution of Crazy Wedding in the framework of FILM.UA Group package proposal for projects supported by Ukrainian State Film Agency.
