The authors of The Stolen Princess feature film (Animagrad, FILM.UA Group) along with Kyiv Underground never get tired of telling Kyiv about their love, so they jointly organized a new social and educational project dedicated to the capital. Mila’s Sweet Kyiv starts on February 14, on St Valentine’s Day. The presentation of the project took place in the Obolon electro department, the authors of the project held a briefing for the media.
After the official part, the journalists took their places in the branded train, which went on the route to the metro station Maidan Nezalezhnosti. On board, it was a big surprise for the passengers – Princess Mila, Ruslan and Hamster Vinnytsky, the main characters of the animation film, which made photos with the passengers. Along with the сartoon characters rode twenty young hamsters in masks, who gave a card for the memory and invited to the premiere of the animation film, which starts in Ukrainian theaters since March 7.
Mila’s Sweet Kyiv is a wide-scale project designed to popularize Kyiv history. From February 14 until March 31 the carriages of a train traveling along Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska (blue) line will have vivid banners where the film`s protagonist, Kyiv princess Mila, tells the passengers about her favorite spots in the native city.
"This is our second cinema release, with which we cooperate with the Kyiv Underground. Thankful for attention and respect for Ukrainian cinema, which is part of the cultural life of the country. Our project Mila’s Sweet Kyiv starts exactly in the Kiev metro, but this is only the beginning", says Polina Tolmachova, marketing director of FILM.UA Group.
As the animation film events evolve in Kyiv Rus, the princess shares what was located in ancient times on the spots of current Kyiv Underground central stations. For example, the passengers will find out that over a thousand years ago a pagan shrine was located where Klovska station now is, and in Poshtova Ploscha king Volodymyr baptized the first residents of Kyiv Rus. In total, Mila tells the history of locations in the vicinity of eight subway stations: Klovska, Kontraktova Ploscha, Khreschatyk, Maidan Nezalezhnosti, Poshtova Ploscha, Universytet, Zoloti Vorota, and Arsenalna.
Over 1,500 years of Kyiv history contain hundreds of thousands of amazing stories and facts, so the responsible task to choose the most essential, flamboyant and fascinating information about the capital’s life has been delegated to one of the experts of Urbanist Research Center in Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and author of numerous articles about Kyiv history.
