This year, Ukraine will be presented in the National competition program of the festival with a record number of films – eighteen, including a new edutainment animation project by Animagrad (FILM.UA Group), Whizz Kids.
The project of the first episode for Whizz Kids became one of the winners of the 8th competitive selection of Ukrainian State Film Agency, having received state financial support in the amount of 435,472 UAH, which constitutes half of the total production cost. Last week, pilot episode The Guitar was approved by the agency.
This year, 1,106 films from 57 countries were submitted to participate in KROK 2017. According to the results of selection for KROK international competition program, 41 films from 20 countries were chosen (Ukraine, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, UK, Georgia, Estonia, Spain, Canada, China, Columbia, Germany, Poland, the USA, Hungary, France, Croatia, Switzerland, and Japan).
KROK-2017: In Native Harbor will take place between November 23 and 26, 2017 in Kyiv Cinema House with the support of Ukrainian State Film Agency and culture department of Kyiv Municipal State Administration. This year, KROK will traditionally present a whole range of new trends in global animation, screening works by both well-known masters and debutants who inspire animation art with their original ideas.

Whizz Kids series is an edutainment animation project for children aged two and up. The goal of the series is to help parents answer the questions about the world and things which the youngsters ask between 300 and 400 times a day. The pilot episode tells about the most widespread musical instrument in the world, the guitar, and how it was invented and made. In the following episode, the young know-it-alls along with the cartoon lead characters will visit countries and continents, meet the most famous people of their time and even steal a glance at other planets. The authors of the series plan for Whizz Kids to be a multi-episode animation series.
