Glowberry publishing house supports a well-known McDonald’s charity campaign «Palm of Happiness»for the fourth time, having developed a book entitled Snail the Forest Hero specially for the campaign. From November 1 till November 30, children’s book Snail the Forest Hero and campaign souvenirs will be available in McDonald’s restaurant chain under the aegis of «Palm of Happiness»charity campaign. The funds collected this year will be allocated for creating Family Rooms, i.e. specially equipped spots in the hospitals where parents and relatives will be able to rest, replenish their energy and communicate with the hospitalized child. This project in Ukraine is implemented by the Foundation "Ronald McDonald House", the founding partner of which is the company McDonald's.
Snail the Forest Hero written by Ukrainian author Anastasia Aleshicheva (nominated for BBC Ukraine’s Book of the Year in 2015) tells a story about lost forest dwellers who can’t find their way home. To overcome all obstacles, the main characters will have to learn not only new skills but also collaboration: together they will make it all along the way, with a happy end awaiting. History is illustrated by modern Ukrainian illustrator Maria Hermasheva.
“We are very happy to participate in the great «Palm of Happiness» charity campaign yet again and support creating Family Rooms in Ukrainian hospitals,” says Olga Cherepanova, creative producer at Glowberry publishing house. “The message of Snail the Forest Hero says that it is easier to overcome any difficulties when your family and friends are around and there are people to support you when you need help. And this is the idea of Family Rooms the funds for establishing which are collected this year. We are glad to be a part of this project and hope that many Ukrainians will support this action.”
Glowberry publishing house started its cooperation with McDonald’s in 2013, having published its book On Eatable and Similar Things for the «Palm of Happiness» charity program. In 2014, the cooperation continued with preparation of early development books for numerous campaigns of McDonald’s Ukraine, and in 2016 specially for the annual program another book was produced – Stories of Magic Toyto.
«Palm of Happiness» charity program has been held in more than 100 countries since 2002 (16 years in a row). During these years, McDonald’s restaurants in Ukraine collected about 32 million UAH and purchased equipment for 50 children’s hospitals in 28 Ukrainian cities. Last year, 4.3 million UAH were collected to be used for equipping Family Rooms in Ukrainian hospitals; the first one is to open on November 2 in Children's Specialized Hospital (Lviv). The money collected during «Palm of Happiness» program in 2017 will be allocated for setting up Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in other Ukrainian cities.
FYI: Glowberry, Ukrainian creative production house for multimedia content, was founded in 2009. The company began with making illustrated books for children, and in 2010, it developed the first Ukrainian book app for iPad. Presently it is also developing an animated series for children Mom Hurries Home.
