On September 14, on the closing day of the Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, the pitching of the Ukrainian animated series “Mom Hurries Home” (Glowberry, FILM.UA Group) was held with great success. The director and creative producer at Glowberry Production, Olga Cherepanova, presented the project to the key players of the European TV and film market. Experts and participants of the event marked the pitching of the Ukrainian series as one of the bright and memorable events at the forum.
“For many years, it was the Cartoon Forum, where many wonderful projects were presented for the first time. Everyone who follows the new trends in the animation series industry gets together here. I can say with confidence that the idea of the series “Mom Hurries Home” is fresh and interesting for the European market, and the project itself has great potential for development, it immediately drew our attention”, mentioned Sergi Reitg, the representative of Imira Entertainment, which this year won a special prize of the forum – Cartoon Tributes – as the best investor/distributor of the year.
It should be noted that the project attracted close attention of the industry professionals at the stage of selection for pitching. A review devoted to the most interesting projects selected for the September pitching of the Cartoon Forum in Toulouse came out in the August issue of the famous animation edition Kidscreen. The editorial board of the magazine created its own short list of 7 most interesting projects (in their opinion) to help broadcasters, producers, distributors, investors not get lost among dozens of new projects. The animated series “Mom Hurries Home” was included in this shortlist of seven most interesting projects.
“The series supports family values and helps children understand that parents remember about them, even when they are not at home”, summarize the journalists of the edition.
Being founded in 1990, the Сartoon Forum is an influential event in the field of animation, where promising television projects are presented in front of potential sponsors and partners. During its existence, thanks to successful pitchings at the Сartoon Forum, more than 700 projects found funding for a total of 2.4 billion euros. For the animated series “Mom Hurries Home”, the Cartoon Forum has become the fourth signature industry event this year, while very few of the submitting projects succeeded to participate in it.
The director and creative producer of Glowberry, Olha Cherepanova, shared the results of the trip to Toulouse Cartoon Forum: “We were very pleased that the professional audience already knew our project, and many of those who could not be at the presentation of “Mom Hurries Home” during the previous European festivals, headed to Toulouse specifically to see our performance. We’ve received very good feedback, and we are not going to stop there.”
Let’s recall that this spring the series took part in the Animation Production Day Business Forum, which took place as part of the Animation Film Festival in Stuttgart, and in the pitching of СARTOON 360, where only animation projects with large-scale transmedia potential managed to overcome the selection. And in June, “Mom Hurries Home” became pitching finalist of at the MIFA film market, which was traditionally held as part of the main International Animated Film Festival in Annecy.

The animated series “Mom Hurries Home” won the 10th Contest of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema in June 2017 and received state funding which constitutes 40% of the total budget.
