Adaptation Rights Acquired by Khabar TV channel

FILM.UA Distribution has made a deal to sell the format of Dr. Baby Dust series first season to the territory of Kazakhstan. Adaptation rights for 32 episodes were acquired by First Creative Union upon commission of Khabar TV channel. The premiere of local version titled Abzal Zhan is scheduled for autumn 2017.

The first season of Dr. Baby Dust Ukrainian series was broadcast at three different TV channels in Kazakhstan, and with each broadcast its average share and ranking exceeded the previous ones,” says Evgeny Drachev, international sales manager at FILM.UA Distribution. - That is why negotiations on format sales were quick; Khabar representatives knew what they wanted and which budget they could afford.”

There are no radical differences to be expected in Dr. Baby Dust local adaptation, as the series is made strictly according to the scripts provided by the company.

The film is set in a Kazakhstan regional hospital. The protagonist, doctor Abzal Smagulov, moves to a small town for a post of a staff doctor. The official reason for the move was his father’s health problems, but what does the doctor really hide? The second plot line consists of women’s stories, one per each episode, with the main accent on medical diagnosis, ways of treatment and dramatic events in the patient’s life.

The lead role in Abzal Zhan series will be played by Kazhimukan Kalymbetov, and Serikbol Utepbergenov will direct the film. The premiere is scheduled for this coming autumn on air of Khabar TV channel.

Just a reminder: in June, FILM.UA finished filming the third season for Dr. Baby Dust.
