Mom Hurries Home Series in Europe: Ukrainian Cartoon Producers Start Negotiations with Top European TV Channels

For the first time Ukrainian projects Mom Hurries Home (produced by Glowberry and FILM.UA Group) and Mavka. The Forest Song (Animagrad) were presented at the main business platform for animation industry: the cartoons made it through the selection among 65 projects from 17 countries of the world to participate in Animation Production Day business forum, which took place under the aegis of animation festival in Stuttgart (IFTS) on May 4-5.  

For Glowberry production and Mom Hurries Home animation series the trip to Stuttgart became the first presentation on the international arena, which turned out to be very confident and successful. Top European TV channels and international companies became interested in the project.  

The forum in Stuttgart uses the format of business meetings between potential partners in the field of film and TV production. To get an invitation to Animation Production Day, all participants have to pass a careful selection by a professional jury. As a result, both young projects with big potential and big investing companies, TV channels and distributors interested in new projects take part. This year, APD selected 29 series, 13 feature films, one short film and one transmedia project, their total budget amounting to about 170 million EUR.  

For Mom Hurries Home cartoon (produced by Glowberry and FILM.UA Group) it was very important to make it to such a high-profile event as Animation Production Day. As APD experience shows, over a third of forum participants strike co-production deals right on the spot.  

Animation series producers held a range of essential business meetings, including the biggest market players: Super RTL holding (Germany), CANAL+ (France), and Walt Disney Channel. Besides, more than ten other international distributors and companies exhibited their genuine interest in co-production. In general, Mom Hurries Home series received positive feedback from international experts who praised its high-quality visuals and original idea: the story of a mother hurrying home to her son is very clear and close to the hearts of parents from all over the world.  

“The format of a business forum at Animation Production Day allows to concentrate on communication with international companies who are genuinely interested in cooperation. All participants study project materials beforehand and come to negotiations with specific questions and offers. We were happy to hear that European and international companies see potential in Mom Hurries Home and are ready for cooperation. Our team has two more international pitchings ahead: Cartoon 360 in Barcelona and MIFA in Annecy,” says Olga Cherepanova, Glowberry director and creative producer, sharing her plans and impressions. 

FYI:Mom Hurries Home is a series continuing a successful brand: a book with the same title was published in Ukrainian in 2010 and very soon became popular among children and their parents. An interactive version of the book for Android and IOS enjoys immense success and has been downloaded over 50,000 times. The book was republished several times in Russia, and this summer will be published in China. Mom Hurries Home is an animated series for children and adults alike who believe in miracles and magic which can happen right on the familiar city streets and even in the comfort of one’s own home. Lyosha’s mom and dad always hurry home to their son Lyosha (Lesyk in Ukrainian) and find themselves in magic adventures and surprising situations. But they still make it to the family dinner on time. As for their stories, they inspire Lyosha and his friends for their own new games and adventures. The series is produced by Animagrad studio.
