«Ukraine. When the countdown began» — official selection of Odessa International film festival

Today, June 12, organizers of Odessa International Film Festival held a press conference on which they announced members of the international and national competition. Documentary film by Sergey Bukovsky «Ukraine. When the countdown began» (FILM.UA, Perspective Ukraine foundation) was selected to the National Competition of Film Festival. In general organizers received about 90 applications from Ukrainian directors, among them seven full-length films and 11 shorts. Apart from «Ukraine. When the countdown began», another feature-length documentary film by Sergey Lysenko «The Secret Freedom» will take part in the competition. The winner of the national competition will be announced on July 20 and will receive a prize «Golden Duke» for the best Ukrainian film, as well as 50 thousand UAH.

In general during the selection process of international competition selective Odessa Film Commission has watched more than 600 films. This year the festival will be visited by such celebrities: Charlie Chaplin's daughter and granddaughter of Nobel laureate Eugene O'Neill, the actress Geraldine Chaplin, one of the greatest filmmakers of our time, Peter Greenaway, an Italian actress and muse of the greatest film directors Fellini and Visconti - Claudia Cardinale and others.

Odessa Film Festival has become one of the most popular and well-known international film events in Ukraine. The festival traditionally holds the premiere screenings of masterpieces of modern cinema, and the closeness to the sea and mild climate is a decisive argument, even for those who love not to overload themselves with work and combine business with pleasure. For inspiration and productive negotiations entire delegation of FILM.UA Group, including both specialists in the production and sales, will visit the festival.
