On March 11, in Kharkiv and Odessa there was a premiere of national theatrical release for a cycle of urban exploration documentary series Insiders Project, jointly produced by the project’s team and FILM.UA.

The screening which took place for the first time outside Kiev was accompanied by a range of interesting events. The viewers in Odessa and Kharkiv could talk to the representatives of Insiders Project team who split up specifically to that end and visited both cities on the same day. During the screening, a photo exhibition was organized, presenting various objects that the Insiders project explored during its work on season one. All guests could take their picture against the background of a city from a bird’s-eye view, underground tunnels and other incredible places. Red Bull Ukraine handed out treats and gave wings* to the audience, and the biggest fans of urban exploration and Insiders Project team could buy theme merchandise with the project’s logo and unique prints.

“Last weekend, the episodes were presented in Kharkiv and Odessa,” says Dmytro Gromov, Insiders project host. “A lot of project fans came; people were really interested. During the screenings, the audience applauded and laughed. After they were over, the viewers didn’t let the team participants go for a long time, they asked questions and took pictures. These presentations have shown that there are people in other cities, not only Kyiv, looking forward to the new episodes.”

Though the project already has a huge army of fans in the capital, many viewers from the regions found out about the film only during the promo campaign and came to the cinemas to see a documentary showing the “reverse” of our country. The audience was very diverse: a six-year-boy was noticed at a screening in Kharkiv, and he was the one who brought his parents with him – normally it happens the other way around. Little Glib is an Insiders Project fan; he brought his own drawing for Dmytro Gromov, the project’s host and creator, and asked some very serious questions after the screening. And in Odessa, much to the project’s team amazement, there were elderly people who followed the events on the screen with great interest. “On the one hand, I felt a bit of nostalgia, because these factories used to work to full capacity, and this is the way our life used to be – industrial and full of huge plans. And on the other hand, this project told us a lot about the new generation, the generation of our children and even grandchildren, and now we can understand them better!”, said a viewer from Odessa.

“It is a unique experience for Ukraine, I mean the whole Insiders Project. These are guys who made it to the big screen from digital industry, only thanks to a brilliant idea, professionalism, and endless faith in what they do. For us it is a big challenge and a great honor to help this unique project acquire a wide audience it totally merits,” says Polina Tolmachova, Marketing Director of FILM.UA Group. “We already informed the public that the cycle spurs huge interest abroad and was taken for distribution by Factory Media (UK). But the project’s success at home is our first priority. I am also totally convinced that theatrical distribution of Insiders Project can and should become a very efficient platform for communication of brands with the young audience. We are very thankful to Red Bull for its support.”

A reminder: UFD and FILM.UA Group decided to launch theatrical distribution for a cycle of documentaries on urban exploration Insiders Project after a successful experience in Kyiv where test screenings were totally sold out in Kyivska Rus and Zhovten cinemas.

Insiders Project is a team of people united by a common goal: to preserve history by showing cultural, historical and architectural heritage in documentaries for future generations. Cooperation with FILM.UA has strengthened the project’s capacities.

During numerous years of explorations the Insiders Project team explored various objects, which belong to cultural heritage of previous ages and are of historical value. The mission of Insiders Project team is to create a video museum, to show unique cultural, historical and architectural heritage, as with each passing year the country loses scores of such sites. To do this, the film crew even had to risk their lives. Tunnels, bomb shelters, subway, underground rivers, conserved factories, the highest bridges and roofs – these hard-to-access locations on, over and under the ground became objects for the team’s exploration. The guys had to descend rickety stairs to deep wells, climb to the highest points of roofs, bridges and towers using external constructions, float in underground rivers, and all this often without any safety nets. The audience will take part in risky journeys on the reverse side of big cities right from the comfortable cinema armchairs.

The theatrical release of urban exploration documentary series Insiders Project will continue in April.
