Main Filming Stage for LOVE AGAINST ODDS Adventure Melodrama Finished

FILM.UA jointly with Intra Communications Inc. completed the main filming stage for a 12-episode series LOVE AGAINST ODDS. The film will be premiered in 2017 on Ukraina TV channel.

The audience will be treated to a captivating love story between two young people from different worlds, with many obstacles to overcome.

Along with the characters in love, the film crew also has its trials and tribulations. 

“This is a rather challenging project for staging. Filming has taken 77 shifts so far, and almost a third of those included stunts. We had car racing, climbing stunts, fights and chases. The most complicated shifts were probably in Gostomel prison. First of all, it was December and already very cold. Then, those were the last filming days in 2016, and the whole crew had grown very tired. On top of that, the director caught a bad virus but kept working with a 39-degree fever. And finally the whole ambience of prison left much to be desired – it was gloomy, depressing and unpleasant. Every day we spent about two hours to get to the prison territory and then to get out of there,” says Katerina Shvets, project producer from FILM.UA.  

“But not everything was that gloomy because our film is about different worlds. We filmed in Mezhyhirya again, in Khonka interior – for now, not a single location compares to it in the wealth of decoration. We did some shooting in an antique shop which has lots of really expensive objects and jewelry. We worked 15 shifts in the memorial apartment which belonged to composer Lyatoshinsky – according to the plot, this is where the female lead and her family lived. By the way, we are very grateful to the residents of the house where this apartment is located. They were extremely patient with our film crew which kept working all this time, day and night. We hope we’ll manage to make a captivating, rich and adventurous melodrama interesting both for younger viewers (there is a lot of action here: chases, detective lines, mysteries and fascinating plot twists) and more mature ones who will like the melodramatic and beautiful development of love relationship between the protagonists" 

The film has a great cast. Young lovers are played by Dmitry Belyakin and Marina Mitrofanova. The audience will also see Stas Boklan, Lev Somov, Aleksey Vertinsky, Maksim Dakhnenko, Mark Drobot, Vera Shpak, Vitaliy Saliy and others.

Dmitry Belyakin playing the role of Zheka noted the crew’s professional approach to the film: “The film is worth seeing due to the demanding approach to quality employed by director Sergey Scherbin and DOP Anton Verbin. They have made many films together and have the highest level of trust between themselves. Sergey and Anton stand up to what they do and who they work with.”

They are from different worlds. She is Natasha Korneeva, a.k.a. Tata, as her parents call her. She was brought up by an intellectual wealthy family. He is Zhenia Stryapkin, a.k.a. Zheka or Stryapa, an orphanage kid, born to fight for his place in the sun. Tata is a student of the Academy of Arts. Zheka is a thief and a desperate chevalier of fortune. But this is here nothing like a thriller or detective story. This is love story. A true one. The one that doesn’t even happen to everyone once in a lifetime. But they were lucky to fall in love, while unlucky to be from different worlds. Tata’s parents hold back nothing to destroy their relationship. Zheka is tailed by the police. They arrest him before the very eyes of his love. Will the lovers make it through the challenge of their fate? Will they save their feelings? You will find out very soon! 

Premiere is scheduled for 2017.
