A House on a Cold Spring, a four-episode film, will be premiered on Ukraina TV channel on November 26.
The film plot is extremely twisted: Arina Subotina grew up in an orphanage and lives her life assured of the fact her parents died. Quite unexpectedly, Arina gets a message from a woman telling her she is her mother. She is presumably on the point of death, willing to leave her a legacy.
In order to figure it all out and call the bluff of the impostor, Arina sets off to Maryozhyno, where her “mother” lives. By good fortune, the city hosts a private genetic laboratory, where Arina applies to for an expert examination. Here she meets Ilya, the laboratory expert, and a chemistry lights up between them.
Nevertheless, soon Arina begins to realize that someone in the city is not particularly welcoming her, and will stop at nothing to make her leave without neither finding out the truth of her “mother”, nor any other mysteries surrounding Arina since the moment she entered this eerie town.
Marina Konyashkina, who played the main character, says, “I’ve worked with this production company before so agreed to the role of Arina without hesitation. In this project I am lucky with the cast – everyone is easy to work with.”
Alla Lipovetskaya, one of the project’s producers, says, “A House on a Cold Spring is a four-episode melodrama with detective and thriller elements. We had a challenging shooting period before us, as it is not an easy task to tell the story and keep the audience at the screen in just four episodes. But we managed as we have a great director, a talented cast, vivid characters and dramatic plot lines.”
When commenting on the good cast, film’s director Taras Dudar singled out a debutante, Viktoriya Skitskaya, “Viktoriya came to the set extremely prepared, with questions and proposals.” Just a reminder: Viktoria Skitskaya who made it to the finals of So You Think You Can Dance 2 played one of the leading roles in the film.
The episodes were shot in summer in the historical part of Chernigov, on the city square and at an old railway station. Local residents were able to take part in filming. “As for the “house on Cold Spring” itself, we found it in Puscha-Voditsa,” says the director, commenting on the choice of the key element the film plot is twisted around.
