Don’t miss the first episode of the film on Monday at 9 PM
On Monday November 21, at 9 PM on Inter TV channel Twist Of Fate is launched; it is a 40-episode melodrama jointly produced by FILM.UA and the broadcaster. The series tells a story about two sisters who found themselves in different families after their parents’ death. Katya grew up in her wealthy grandfather’s home, while her younger sister Olga had to survive extreme poverty and hardships. After many years, life brings the sisters together again, but this time they are rivals in love with the same man. Will Katya and Olga recognize each other?
Twist Of Fate is a Ukrainian version of Korean doramaGlass slippers. As the film authors note, a lot of work was put into adapting the script for our environment.
“We had to change a lot. For example, we had to narrow down the huge emotional ranges of the characters and to shift the accent away from martial arts, even though one of our central characters participates in ultimate fighting,” notes the film’s producer Ekaterina Shvets. “We completely rewrote the dialogues and many scenes, because communication styles between men and women, managers and subordinates are radically different in our countries, but we managed to preserve the main components, namely a strong story and a true-life plot, which sucks the characters in like a whirlpool and reveals their complicated natures.”
The lead roles in the film were played by Mila Sivatskaya, Yevgeniya Rozanova, Denis Vasiliev, Oleg Haas and Anna Adamovich. Besides, the project had the honor to welcome such well-known actors as Olha Sumskaya, Valeriy Afanasiev, Kirill Zhandarov, Viktor Saraykin, Olesya Zhurakovskaya and Dmitry Surzhikov.
“This series is about real life where not all stories by far end happily. It shows the ways characters behave in different situations and that your bad choices will come back to haunt you – in a year, two or ten. There is a certain boundary, and if you overstep it, you won’t be able to bring anything back,” says Mila Sivatskaya playing one of the leading roles. “My character’s behavior teaches people not to give up. I hope that in this film she reminds the viewers that one should always believe, hope and fight.”
The series was filmed in Kyiv. A part of it was completed in the pavilions of FILM.UA studio constructing the interiors of lead characters’ houses and apartments as well as the offices of Global, a mobile communications company owned by Valeriy Afanasiev’s character. Forty episodes of the film were finished in only two and a half months. This was rather challenging for the actors; besides, they had to deal with the intricacies of the plot and complicated relationships among the characters. “Twist Of Fate has lots of characters; its plot lines are rich. Frankly speaking, we the actors sometimes got confused. Actually, it was a creative process. Because it is simply unrealistic to learn the content of all forty episodes beforehand. That is why I even drew a family tree for the series! There is my character’s father, and then there are branches – who is related to whom and which qualities they have from my character’s point of view,” says Olha Sumskaya playing the main characters’ aunt. “In this series, I got a very interesting role. My Veronica is a lady with an attitude looking for love.”
