The distribution division of Factory Media, Europe’s largest lifestyle sports and culture content business, has acquired distribution rights for Soviet Megamonsters, the urban exploration series produced by FILM.UA Group.

Soviet Megamonsters (10x26) is produced by FILM.UA Group, based in Ukraine, who have an exclusive deal with Insiders Project - a team of urban explorers who have gained a strong local and international following among aficionados of active lifestyle – to make the series. Each episode takes the viewer on an urban adventure to uncover the secrets of hard to access locations, from Cold War bomb shelters to secret vaults and underground railway tunnels. Factory Media acquired international distribution rights to Soviet Megamonsters (excluding CIS, the UK and The Americas) at MIPCOM 2016, where they were pitching the series to international buyers.

Georgie Eyre, Head of Acquisitions, Factory Media said:

“This show takes adventure, science and history to a whole new level.  Using urban exploration as a medium the series gives us an exclusive and in-depth look internal and external structures of some of the most fascinating industrial behemoths.  We are excited to have signed this deal at MIP and the series has already rightly received a huge amount of attention.”

Kateryna Vyshnevska, Soviet Megamonsters / Insiders Project producer, and FILM.UA Group head of development and co-productions said:

Soviet Megamonsters by Insiders Projectteam of urban explorersis a great fit for Factory Media, who in a short period of time have built an impressive specialist catalogue of active lifestyle programs. We are excited to be working with them

Season 1 of Soviet Megamonsters explores abandoned tunnels and underground rivers, bridges, rooftops and industrial objects. Two episodes of the program form a Chernobyl Exclusion Zone special, and feature unprecedented exclusive footage.

Kateryna Vyshnevska added:

Each episode gives an insider look into one Soviet heritage location. There’s one thing they share: they are all interesting, inaccessible, well-guarded and have historical significance. We’re inspired by the feedback we are getting and plan to expand the geography of our urban explorations in the future and offer viewers access to more unique locations. Whether or not you are a fan of active lifestyle, extreme sports and adrenaline-inducing activities, you just need to watch one episode of the series to get hooked, and I hope the international audiences will appreciate that”.
