Six New Ukrainian Formats Added to UA Formats Catalogue

The updated version of the catalogue with the most successful Ukrainian formats are presented at MIPCOM in Cannes

Six new projects have been added to UA Formats, a centralized catalogue of the most successful original Ukrainian formats. These are popular TV shows and series which have proven their uniqueness and popularity on the Ukrainian television and possess a significant potential for sales and adaptation at the international market. The renewed UA Formats catalogue is presented at MIPCOM, an international audiovisual content market, which is traditionally held in Cannes from the 17^th till the 20^th of October.  

“UA Formats catalogue regularly adds new original formats from Ukraine to the list, which confirms the creative powers and audacity of our TV market to try out new ideas, proving their success every time through official rankings and popularity among the audience,” notes Iryna Kostyuk, the initiator of UA Formats catalogue and FILM.UA Group producer. “We are certain that the projects presented in our catalogue will be interesting for international media community.”

21 Ukrainian formats already present in the catalogue were complemented with the following projects:

 - “Nikonov & Co.” detective series (broadcast by ICTV – Ukraine)

- “Heads & Tails” travel show (broadcast by Inter and K1 – Ukraine),  TTV – Poland)

- “Defrauders in the Web” reality show (broadcast by Novy Channel – Ukraine)

- “Project "Love" reality show (broadcast by Novy Channel – Ukraine)

- “Lean and Mean” reality show (broadcast by Novy Channel – Ukraine)

- “Wife on the Drive” reality show (broadcast by Yu Channel – Russia, Latvia and Estonia)

Just to remind you, previously the catalogue was complemented by another Ukrainian format “Doctor on Call”; its success and high rankings allowed to include the project into the catalogue to sell the format to the international markets. A distinguishing feature of this project, except high-quality solid stories, is the scripted reality technology applied to drama series, which allows to produce a drama series in the lines of scripted reality budget. Presently 80 new episodes for seasons two and three have been commissioned by Ukraine TV Channel and gone into production.

UA Formats is a unique Ukrainian project, initiated by FILM.UA Group. It is basically a complete catalogue of almost all Ukrainian formats ever made on local TV with a one common feature – a great success story of broadcast: either in terms of ratings, number of seasons on air or number of local adaptations in CIS countries or all of those factors combined.
