FILM.UA started shooting seasons two and three of the first Ukrainian-language medical drama Doctor on Call commissioned by TV channel Ukraine. The new episodes will be premiered on TV channel Ukraine.
After successful premiere of Doctor on Call first season, TV channel Ukraine decided to shoot seasons two and three of the medical drama; each of those will consist of 40 episodes.
The plot is based on the stories from emergency clinic where doctors don’t just treat patients but also help them to deal with personal problems. As the series director Aleksandr Onufriyev says, the new seasons will place even bigger emphasis on the patients’ personal stories, with emergency clinic employees getting involved in those against their will.

“The plots will have unimaginable twists, so the audience will literally stand on its toes. Our stories have become even more interesting, and I am sure that the viewers will greatly enjoy both the detective twists and the touching melodramatic moments,” says Aleksandr Onufriyev, project director. “As for me, being the series director I am planning to add dynamics and action which I felt were sometimes missing in the first season.”
Yulia Mishchenko, Doctor on Call showrunner, noted that she had never doubted the success of the first season and believed that the language the actors speak doesn’t matter when it is a high-quality production.
“I kept insisting that the characters in season one speak Ukrainian, and I chose right. I was deeply convinced that the most important things for the TV audience are sincerity and life stories reaching right to the heart,” says Yulia Mishchenko. “In new episodes, we’ll work more on revealing the personalities of our permanent characters; there will be lots of stories they will be deeply involved in. Besides, we’ll have more teenage stories as the first season has shown that they truly resonate with our audience.”
The main roles in the series will be played by the following Ukrainian actors already appreciated by the audience: Mikhail Zhonin, Ruslan Sokolnik, Mikhail Romanov, Irina Tkalenko, Nadezhda Levchenko, and many others.

The shooting for the projects started on August 1, 2016 and will last till August 2017 in Kiev.
As mentioned earlier, Doctor on Call is the first Ukrainian-language medical series. It was premiered in May 2016 on TV channel Ukraine. A team of FILM.UA professionals is working on the project.
