FILM.UA in association with Intra Communications Inc. started filming “CONTACT”, a 12-episode mystical detective movie. How are the movie characters going to use their unexpected gift – for the good of people, or for their own sake – you will learn this no later than during the premiere screening in 2017.
“This is a story about the characters’ inner desires, revealing through their mystical nature. The genre - mystical detective movie – is not really widespread, but it is highly acclaimed by the audience. This is a very effort-consuming trend, especially in the 21st century, with the audience spoiled by visual effects and unbelievably staged stunts. But this script is so well-written that from the first to the very last frame any viewer will watch it showing much interest and with some relentless suspense, - says the film director Mikhail Barkan. – For the story itself, though mystical, is about us, people, about our fears, about our complexes. The movie is more of a situation model, which could happen anytime if a super-weapon ended up in hands of a man who is humiliated, hurt, broken down since his childhood. I believe, the topic is very relevant today.”
Synopsis: The secret service conducts demolition work in the area of magnetic anomalies. Purely by accident, it turns out that three men are located in the explosion area: Vladimir Golenko, a criminal, Oleg Malinin, a photographer, and Benedict Tartakovsky, a failed writer. As a result of the explosion, a strange connection begins between those three: a photographer Malinin can read the criminal Golengo’s mind, even see the world around him with the criminal’s eyes, and the writer Tartakovsky can entirely control Golenko’s actions and communicate with Malinin remotely. Tartakovsky, having Golenko come into his full possession, decides to use him to revenge everybody who had ever stood on his way before.
“We were looking for one of our main protagonists, Oleg Malinin, for quite a while, we even were at the risk of the whole project’s failure, but just a few days before we started shooting our efforts turned out to be a success, we have found a wonderful actor, Pavlo Barshak, - says Maria Alekseeva, the project’s producer (Intra Communications Inc.). – The filming will take place in Kyiv and it will take four months. We’ve also got a very exciting location out of the city – a rock quarry. A huge, great and professional crew is working on the film set, which I happened to cooperate with before, and I am glad we are back working together again.”
Sergey Demidov, executive producer, shared some witty technical details of the filming: “This project is interesting in relation to production. We are faced with some unconventional, complex tasks, demanding creative solutions. We use brand-new hardware in the filming, for instance we have ordered Osmo camera special for the project, and there comes work with 3D graphics. Filming on the quarry is especially complicated, it is a massive piece of work where we are going to experience a mystical explosion, not just your common one.”
