The shooting of “Twist of Fate”, a 40-episode melodrama, has kicked off. This is a FILM.UA & Iner channel co-produced adaptation of “A shoe for Cinderella”, a well-known Korean television drama. This is a story about two sisters finding themselves in different families after their parents’ death. Katya grew up healthy and wealthy in her grandfather’s house, while her younger sister Olga has lived in poverty and misery. After many years fate brings the two sisters together again, but this time as antagonists, in love with one and the same man. Will Katya and Olga recognize each other?
"A powerful life story is always a hands-down winner, and this is what our story exactly is. The plot focuses around a huge drama of two sisters. They are both divorced and they are desperately trying to reunite with each other through the whole series, - says Vladimir Melnichenko, the project’s creative producer. – They experience wealth and misery, they meet all kinds of people... There is a lot of parable here, for each protagonist will test him/herself, and will either be reborn, or get their lumps; the one trying to revenge will see his/her soul on fire of the vengeance, and the one who was seeking out desperately, will surely find what he/she was looking for…"
The film’s producer, Ekaterina Shvets, says that a lot of efforts went into adaptation of the script for Ukrainian audience. “We had to change a lot, for instance we had to cut the range of the characters’ emotions, make a shift from marital arts (though we could not remove them completely, as one of the main protagonists goes in for mixed marital arts), completely re-write the dialogues and a lot of scenes, - for the conversational styles between men and women, employers and employees, are completely different in our countries, - says Ekaterina Shvets. - But we managed to keep the main thing – a powerful storyline and a live plot, sucking you down as a whirl and revealing complex characters of the protagonists, and also the fairy tale where magical coincidence makes people go all the way and express their true selves”.
"As for me, the twist of the series is the idea that we all have a connection with each other. The characters’ lives are all entwined, each step in life of one influences lives of the others, and we have no clue about it, - says Mila Sivatskaya, an actress playing Olya in the film. – As soon as I have read the script, I began thinking of people around me, maybe there is something we don’t know about each other too…"
Apart from the powerful story, "Twist of Fate" boasts a great cast. "We had to find young yet experienced actors. We had a thorough casting, and at last we managed to bring together a brilliant cast, and we hope our audience trusts those people, - Melnichenko continues. – There you will see Mila Sivatskaya (Olga), Yevgeniya Rozanova (Katya), Denis Vasiliev (Vadim), Anna Adamovich (Lisa), Oleg Haas (Vania). And they will be accompanied by the famous and beloved actors such as Valeriy Afanasiev, Olha Sumska, Cyrill Zhandarov, Dmitry Surzhykov, Oleasya Zhurakovska, Victor Saraykin etc”.
"There I play a man willing for a chance to revenge. It tortures him, but he cannot give it up. What comes out is a kind of an inner rupture – on one hand he is a light and kind person and he would like to live in kindness, but this wormhole is poisoning his life. He can not give up vengeance, for this way he would betray his goal, but giving himself up to it completely is no less than a self-destruction. – Denis Vasiliev tells us about his character. – This is why this role is interesting for me in the first place, for I mostly played positive characters before, and here is this coiled spring, it’s not that simple”.
"Twist of Fate" will be filmed in Kyiv before this year’s October, the series will premiere in the new season on Inter channel.
