FILM.UA Group (Ukraine) and AVK Production (Russia) have cooperated on a Russian-Ukrainian adaptation of the popular Catalonian TV drama format “The Red Band Society” (“Polseres vermelles”), a heart-warming teenage medical drama. Russian language adaptation, known locally as “The Red Bracelets”, is premiering on Channel One (Russia) and STB channel (Ukraine) in spring 2016.
Synopsis: A group of teenagers are cancer patients in a pediatric ward, which serves as a metaphor for the larger world outside the hospital walls. They accept real life challenges, make difficult decisions, become friends and fall in love like they would in the real world. There is no pathetic drama in the story of the young patients. Quite the opposite - their story, sometimes touching, sometimes funny, is a celebration of life itself.
Original “The Red Band Society” (“Polseres vermelles”) is a Catalan drama series, launched in Spain in 2011. The original series became widely popular all over the world, and was broadcast in Mexico, Finland, Sweden, Argentina, France and USA among other territories. Local versions were produced and broadcast in Italy (Rai1), Peru (America TV), Chile (TVN), USA (FOХ) and Germany (VOX).
"The Red Bracelets" was filmed in June-November of 2014 on location in Russia and Portugal.
