At MIPTV (stand R7.L12), FILM.UA Group presents its newest drama series The Red Queen, which has just been released in Ukraine and Russia to great success and critical acclaim
This captivating drama about the life of the most famous Soviet fashion model already won the hearts of both Ukrainian and Russian audiences. The series aired on Channel 1, the number one channel in Russia, in March 2016. The average share for the first two episodes amounted to 20.51 per cent. The series spurred huge interest among the channel audience as confirmed by the growth in viewing numbers. The ratings peaked during the finale amounting to 25.09 per cent and nearly doubled the average share of the channel.
In Ukraine the series premiered in October 2015 on Inter TV channel, becoming an indisputable leader in its slot. The share of The Red Queen averaged at 19.8 per cent and reached 35.5 per cent during its peaks.
The series plot follows the life story of Regina Zbarskaya, the most famous Soviet fashion model. Her life was incredibly dramatic and reflected the controversies faced by an extraordinary personality forced to live in a totalitarian society. The series is deeply rooted in real historical events, including the show of Christian Dior’s collection in Moscow in 1959 and the trip of the Soviet Fashion House delegation to Paris. The ambience of 1950s and 1960s at the peak of Cold War, which commands huge audience interest around the globe, has been recreated with utmost credibility. This was achieved thanks to the careful selection of locations (the series was filmed in 4 countries), meticulous work of costume designers (around 2,000 outfits were developed specifically for The Red Queen), strong casting and great work of makeup artists.
The series has attracted huge attention in Ukraine and Russia and FILM.UA Group is currently finalizing the international version of the series.
