On December 17-18 Skill Bill Pro held a practical course "Film shooting equipment: cameras, lights, special equipment. Creative and technical solutions within your budget".

Practical part was curated by cinematographer Yuri Korol and the theoretical part was presented by Anton Tomusyak (film project manager at PATRIOT RENTAL) and Vitaliy Didenko (CEO FILM RENTAL).

The course participants were introduced to the latest lighting equipment, advanced models of cameras and optical series, as well as additional equipment for filming.

A unique bonus for particapants became practical part with Milo motion control system. Here's only a part of the tasks that are easily solved by the system:

  • The incredibly rigid structure and design of the rig means it can just as easily do macro work as large live-action moves.
  • The structure also means it is very stable when starting and stopping quickly or suddenly so imported complex moves from CGI are more likely to run at higher speeds.
  • The outer arm on the Milo means that the standard arm of the Milo can take the camera from well below the ground to 4m in height in one motion even though the arm is much smaller. Great for getting shots over objects, cars or actors with ease.
  • The whole unit runs from single phase power so using the unit on any location does not require complex mains supplies or three phase generators.
  • The build quality of the Milo is second to none, easily observable by the fact that Milo’s built 15 years ago still work and do high end commercial and feature work daily. No Milo has ever retired!

On the second day, participants tried to solve a creative task with the use of technology provided by getting comments about how and what can be improved in the proposed solution. In particular, among the proposed tasks were: framing an evening scene with a girl waiting at a table by the window, a morning scene, a silhouette against the light, a commercial shot and others.
