Olias Barco finished shooting Polina

December 2nd was the last shooting day of Olias Barco's feature Polina, which is the largest intenational co-production with the participation of Ukraine in the gerne of fantasy. Presentation of the first teaser of the film will take place at OIFF Winter Film Market.

Polina is a story of a girl who goes on a magical journey in search of the truth about her family. The shooting started on November 1st and lasted for 26 days. International cast is represented by Virginie Ledoyen ("The Beach", "8 Women") and Edouard Baer ("Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia"), hollywood actor Saul Rubinek ("Unforgiven", "True Romance", "Wall Street"), Ukrainian athlete and actor Vasily Virastyuk, Belarusian actress Yana Novikova ("The Tribe"), as well as the fastest girl boxer in the world Evnika Saadvakass. Ukrainian singer and actress Jamala and director Miroslav Slaboshpytsky also starred in the film. The main role in the film is performed by 11-year-old Ukrainian Polina Pechenenko.

The shooting took place on the territory at FILM.UA Studio, cinema village, near Kiev Academic Puppet Theatre, and Kyiv School of Boxing. There were created magical worlds, where Polina found her friends and tips on the way to her most important goal - find out the mystery about her parents.

"Polina is a film about the magical power of childhood, which is to believe in the impossible and do not see any barriers and borders. This power has helped our team to shoot a film in such a short time", - said the director, screenwriter and film producer Olias Barco on the last day of shooting.

December 15th the first teaser of Polina will be presented at OIFF Winter Film Market. 

The film is produced by Belgian WILD TRIBE FILMS and Ukrainian FILM.UA. Director and author of the film is Olias Barco, whose short film ‘Poubelles’ won the Golden award in the Cannes ‘Critics Week’. Director of Photography, Thierry Arbogast, is noted for his long-time collaboration with French director Luc Besson, having worked as DOP on the films ‘Leon', ‘The Fifth Element', and most recently, the international smash, ‘Lucy'. Release is scheduled for Autumn 2016.
