French star Virginie Ledoyen ("The Beach", "8 Women") and Edouard Baer ("Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia") have joined the international cast of Olias Barco's film "Polina", which production started November 1st in Kiev. Famous Ukrainians Jamala, Miroslav Slaboshpytsky and Vasily Virastjuk will also star in the film.
Polina is a story of 11-year-old girl who goes on a magical journey in search of the truth about her family. Main role is played by Ukrainian Polina Pechenenko, where she is joined by an international cast.
French actress Virginie Leduayen, winner of Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement and European Film Academy Award for her role in Francois Ozon "8 Women", has become popular all over the world after appearing in "The Beach" by Danny Boyle, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. Actress will arrive in Kiev for the shooting of the film "Polina", where she will play a key role. Participation in the project was confirmed by another famous French actor Edouard Baer, who played in the last episode of Asterix franchise about the adventures of the famous Gauls - "Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia."

Shooting of Polina will start on November 1. At the moment, actors from around the world are working at FILM.UA Studio. Hollywood actor Saul Rubinek, who worked with Clint Eastwood ("Unforgiven"), Tony Scott ("True Romance") and Oliver Stone ("Wall Street"). Young French actress and model Audrey Marney shot in the films by Michel Gondry, George Clooney, Patrice Leconte and Cedric Klapisch and Frenchman Virgile Bramley, who played bit parts in "The Beginning" by Christopher Nolan and "Manderley" by Lars von Trier. One of the character roles went to Daniel Cohen, the French actor and director of a comedy "Chef" with Jean Reno. Belgium is represented by actors Wim Villart ("Ex Drummer") and Eloi Alfaro Verstraeten. A Lithuanian actress Severija Janusauskaite ("Star") plays a major negative role.
The film also stars famous Ukrainians. Athlete, record-breaker and actor Vasily Virastjuk will play together with the star of "The Tribe", a deaf actress Yana Novikova. Miroslav Slaboshpytsky, director of "Tribe" and owner of more than 40 international awards, together with Ukrainian actress and singer Jamala has also joined the crew.
Polina is a Ukraine-Belgium-France co-production. The film is produced by Belgian WILD TRIBE FILMS and Ukrainian FILM.UA. Director and author of the film is Olias Barco, whose short film ‘Poubelles’ won the Golden award in the Cannes ‘Critics Week’. Director of Photography, Thierry Arbogast, is noted for his long-time collaboration with French director Luc Besson, having worked as DOP on the films ‘Leon', ‘The Fifth Element', and most recently, the international smash, ‘Lucy'.
‘Polina’ will be shot in English, and is intended for a world wide distribution. Release is scheduled for Autumn 2016.
