FILM.UA Group #KіnoKraina started to return state money allocated for the production of the film Battle for Sevastopol. On August 13th company made the first payment to Ukrainian State Film Agency and transferred 1.5 million hryvnia

"We want to thank State Film Agency for their assistance and the opportunity to realize this, in my view, landmark project for the Ukrainian cinema" - says Egor Olesov, producer of the film. - We were able to demonstrate that Ukrainian cinema can be both commercially successful in theatrical release, and gather high ratings on TV. I would also like to note that FILM.UA Group (initiative #Kіnokraїna) will continue to actively promote the development of the national film industry".

The intention to return to the state funds invested in the production of  Battle for Sevastopol was first mentioned by Sergei Sozanovsky, FILM.UA Group, in September 2014. "Our major goal in this project - to return to the state the money it has invested in the film, with a profit - he said at a public lecture "To build Hollywood in Troeshchina". - We want to prove that state support, of which everyone is talking about, is not a necessary component".

On August 12th the initiative group #KіnoKraїna published a procedure and a list of required documents for additional financing of films that won State Film Agency pitching but were not completed due to the lack of funds. As of today #KіnoKraїna has not received a single application.
