Today German channel Das Erste premiered a documentary "Buchenwald: Heldenmythos und Lagerwirklichkeit". Computer graphics for the film was created by Ukrainian company Signal RED. The film is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp.

Buchenwald, one of the largest Nazi concentration camps, contained 250 000 prisoners, and more than 50 000 people have died in its prisons. The terrible truth was opened after the camp was liberated by the Allies in the spring of 1945.

It seems that the whole world knows this name. Thanks to the careful work in archives and documents found new terrible stories сame out. The film answers questions about what really happened on the mountain Ettersberg? What discretion had SS camp leadership in the treatment of prisoners? Who gave the orders to torture and murder and who performed them? Are all the prisoners were cohesive "community of suffering"? What a person can do in order to survive? And what was the role of the German Communists in the construction of a rigid hierarchy among prisoners?

Since the Buchenwald camp was almost completely destroyed, for a documentary film directed by Andre Meyer Signal RED created visual 3D reconstruction of the concentration camp, its territory and the main objects: the gate of the camp, the SS barracks, the site where prisoners were collected, watchtowers, camp for children, crematorium and brothel. Due to the detailed 3D animations hospital barracks, camp commander's house, railway station and many other buildings of the camp Buchenwald have been recreated in detail.

Documentary "Buchenwald: Heldenmythos und Lagerwirklichkeit" will be aired after the new film adaptation of the famous novel Nackt unter Wölfen by a German playwright and camp prisoner Bruno Apitz.
