“The Sniffer” has became the most popular series on Channel One for the last five years.
-The first season of “The Sniffer” I watched in a week after its premiere on TV, - said Estonian actor and main character Kirill Kyaro. – The main character is a really good actor, but there is still a lot to work on (laughs). In the second season you will see corrections of mistakes. The Sniffer matured.
The plot is simple: each episode super-detective with extraordinary smell unravels strange criminal cases. He works at SBR (Service Bureau of Investigation). And his name is Sniffer. Thanks to his sense of smell he wears special filters in his nose and takes them off only when he goes work.
- If we met in real life, we wouldn’t like each other, - Kirill smiles. – I’m a piddler, always got C in chemistry, I smoke and love to eat everything with ketchup. And I don’t like nerds. However, we both love cool cars and to feel smarter than everyone else. Only he does it a little bit better!
Colonel Viktor Lebedev (Ivan Oganesyan, Armenia) usually helps the detective. But in the new season the Sniffer will have a competitor - a top-qualification forensic scientist Irina Nordin (Agne Grudite, Lithuania). Moreover, the series got a new D.O.P. Experienced Brit, Graham Frake, who shot "Downton Abbey," "Doctor Who" and "Midsomer Murders."
- I don’t speak Russian, - Graham says. - But we have adapted to work together and understand each other. When the director and producer invited me, I watched the first season, and I liked it. I wanted to become a part of this project.
According to the story all actions in series take place in a kind of metropolis, the authors avoid reference to geography. In reality it was filmed in Kiev, Ukraine and the region.
- We will shoot four episodes for three months; - says producer Maxim Asadchiy. - We pay attention to the smallest details, so our daily production is very small – just four minutes of the film. We work every day, each shift lasts for 12 hours. Sometimes, we could lose 1 - 2 days due to location change. So, this season will much better than the first one.
During the filming Kirill Kyaro merged with his character so much that his colleagues often tease him asking to find something:
- Thank God, people on streets don't ask me to find anything. But on the set, we often joke about it. Someone lost the phone. What to do? Sniffer, your time has come! And then I answer in Sniffer's style: "It was taken by a female 30 - 35 years old, with red nail polish". Everyone laughs. Nevertheless, the phone was found. However, the person who took it didn't fit my description.
8-episode series produced by FILM.UA will premiere on Channel One in the coming year.

The cost of each episode is 500 thousand dollars. The production period lasted for 111 days. On the film set were produced more than 1.5 thousand shots and 120 simulated explosions, using grenades, grenade launcher rockets, light flares with parachute, and so on.
BY THE WAY
Broadcasting rights for the first season of "The Sniffer" were sold to France, Poland, Finland, Venezuela, Vietnam and Macedonia. The second season already interested Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Bulgaria. Negotiations are under way for the sale of broadcasting rights for the project to channels in Turkey, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Japan, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Portugal and Spain.
