October 6, we held a workshop on casting within Skill Bill Pro programme. Traditionally, we've prepared some bullet points:
Casting Director starts working on the project when the script is approved and until the film is completed.
Casting and audition are different terms. If to talk about a film term "audition" often applies for the main characters.
Audition is the most creative part in the work of a casting director.
The actor must always come well prepared and must not be shy to ask clarifying questions.
Elena Prilipko is sure that if the actor said that he could have played better if he had a costume and props, it is just an attempt to justify himself. At the same time, Inna Miroshnichenko advises to take your own props to make it easier to get into character. For example, a scarf or shawl can be helpful.
General tips for passing auditions: come earlier and, if possible, leave later. If you have a pre-text, you have to know it well. Be prepared that the casting may take place not in the most comfortable conditions.
Be dressed for the role, not for the weather.
Inna Miroshnichenko advises to go to all auditions you're called for.
Elena Prilipko told that despite the fact that producer and channel representative have the final, casting director can influence on the choice. If you believe in the actor, you can always give arguments in his favor.
There is also a possibilty to meet the director. Actors are advised not to miss such suggestions, but be prepared that during such a meeting director can provoke you to "extreme reactions".
Actors have to know their inner psychological type and work it out.
The actor must have a portfolio that should include side-on, full-face and full length portraits.
Be brave. Do not be afraid to send your videos on the request of the casting director.
