«Red or Black» is jokingly called «antitalant show» - to participate in it one do not have to have any talent - sing, dance or do tricks. All you need is to have a good intuition and just be lucky. Fortuna is the one who every time determines whether the player continues to participate in the program or has to leave it. Each spectacular competition – whether it is flying motorcycles at the Sports Palace or spidermen, who climbed up the hotel «Ukraine», participants only need to place a bet – «red or black». And depending on the results, only one bet wins, one color. All, who have guessed pass to the next round. And in the final only one person again selects a color, and the roulette wheel decides his fate: to be or not to be a millionaire.
«Inter» calls this show the most expensive project on Ukrainian TV. Firstly, in each of the program one million hryvnia is at stake. Secondly, the project is very expensive to produce, because it entertaining, and involves a lot of stuntmen and professional athletes, adventurers, and they have decent fees,
Spot hand saved spiderman
The shooting continued for three days. Nobody was allowed to enter the pavilion, except for the participants of the show. From time to time hosts Vladimir Zelensky and Dmitriy Shepelev went out for a smoke break. Seizing the moment we’ve decided to ask Zelensky couple of questions:
- Volodya what impressed you the most?
- A unique trick by American Darren Taylor – «Professor Splash» - the man who falls from a 11-meter platform in a children's pool, where a total hight of water is 30 cm. In our project, he set a new world record - jumped from 11 m 35 cm. Actually, he jumps a few times a year in different countries. In Ukraine he did it for the first time. We, of course, were worried for his life. It’s pretty creepy to watch how he prepares himself for the jump, he jumps on his stomach, and before that constantly beats himself, getting used to the pain. Stands on the rig, prepares, talks to someone with his head raised up... It is, of course, a little bit crazy. In this trick, «Professor Splash» lost his tooth, but said he got off lightly. I do not know how he lives after such jumps. But Darren said it his last jump. I think it is not a fact, it's his job.
Another exclusive trick - climbers who conquered the facade of the hotel «Ukraine» in Kiev. These Spidermen - one in the red suit, the second - in black. They climbed to the top. One, by the way, fell off. Fortunately, spot hand saved him. But they are professionals. One sportman, Czech by nationality, with whom I spoke, says: «I can’t live without it, it's my life, I enjoy what I do». Yes, they earn money that way. But this is not the point. They just live. I respect these people - they are probably the most free. I think that all experiences that overtake us in a particular age, arise from the fact that we are becoming less free. I'm talking about inner freedom - a man not afraid to lose anything.
- Why everything is so riskily?
- Because of the logic and format of the show. Very complex and spectacular competitions, in which extreme sports lovers participate, eventually reveal what color won - red or black, and, respectively, who from the participants won - those who bet on red or black? For example, next to the pool, in which «Professor Splash» was jumping, there were two vessels: red and black. In what vessel would be more water that sector will be the winner – it’s impossible to set up.
