Due to the specific character of my work I often visit FILM.UA. However, recently it looks more like raids: a rapid march through the hall and right to the shooting stage where the work is humming. That's all I’ve seen there. So one day, I decided to change the situation and started wandering around the studio, in fact, it’s like a city inside another city.
FILM FACTORY. If you watch television, you have probably seen series produced by FILM.UA. Here are some famous series, produced in Kiev, "The Sniffer", "Dr. Baby Dust", "Inseparable", "House with the lilies". These and other Ukrainian films are being broadcast in Kazakhstan, Israel, USA, Thailand, Canada and many other countries. It’s hard to believe that some 10 years ago this territory belonged to a plastic bottle manufacturer.
AUTOPARK. In the courtyard one can find about 30 retro cars. "Pobeda", "Chaika", BMW and "Mercedes". All these lacquered chrome and shiny cuties are actors who constantly shoot in studio’s war series. By the way, all of them are in running condition. However, many of these cars were found almost in landfills.
COSTUMES. I saw a lot of the costume rentals, but never with such a perfect order. All outfits (about 40,000 pieces of clothing) signed and cataloged. Here you can find Adolf Hitler's military dress, Red Army greatcoats, striped suits of concentration camps prisoners. There are separate shelves for German helmets and caps of various sizes. Of course, I could not resist and tried on the Red General’s headdress. There is also a stand with different handbags and jewelry. I think the girls could actually live in here.
HOLLYWOOD AND GUNS. The walls of the studio are covered with portraits of the actors that filmed here, old posters (object of my jealousy - poster for the film "Za dvumya zaytsami"). There is also some cinephile stuff like Bruce Willis gun in the first "Die Hard" and Jackie Chan in "Hour of the peak". Guns peacefully rest under glass, and next to them - pieces of the film.
OWN PRODUCTION. The studio has seven soundstages and a 350 staff. The biggest soundstage covers an area of 1200 sq. m. (ceiling height - 15 m). FILM.UA recently launched its "Green Pavilion" for the filming of DSE. There is also a MoCap system just like the one Peter Jackson used in his "Lord of the Rings" to make the movements of Gollum as realistic as possible. In the studio it is used for the shooting of "Fairy Rus".
