Our friends and partners, companies Digital Cinema Ukraine and POSTMODERN, acquired a number of technical solutions from Vicon, one of the key players in the market of motion capture production. This equipment opens up entirely new prospects for creating a spectacular film and animation in Ukraine, and considering the experience of successful projects of Vicon around the world it will ensure the provision of the service at the highest level.
Vicon offers a wide range of solutions in the field of motion capture: cameras, modeling systems, special software and applications, suits, sensors and other equipment. In this case we are talking about the motion capture system using special cameras that can capture the physics of motion, and then use it on a three-dimensional character or object. This system - one of the first systems of this level set in Ukraine.
In order to capture the motion of the object in the frame actor has to wear up to 53 sensors, which allow to fully convey the physics of each movement. When shooting a close-up an additional grid of special mini-sensors (up to 100) is created. In fact, each sensor must be located in the center of the rotational motion of the human body, or to fix a separate muscle, when it comes to facial expressions.
In filmmaking, and games, it refers to recording actions of human actors, and using that information to animate digital character models in 2D or 3D computer animation. When it includes face and fingers or captures subtle expressions, it is often referred to as performance capture.
With the help of Vicon systems POSTMODERN company plans to bring a new high level of animation projects that are in production. With the help of the installed system, it is possible to fix a few objects in the frame at the same time and create animation in real time.
By using different Vicon systems such blockbusters were shot: «Transformers 3: The Dark Side of the Moon», «Planet of the Apes 3», «Avatar».
To install the system experts from Vicon came, they will help Digital Cinema Ukraine and POSTMODERN properly install the entire system, as well as to learn complicated software, which will work correctly with the film footage. The entire system is installed in the 8th pavilion at FILM.UA Studio.
