The Ukrainian Media Industry Represented by a Joint Ukrainian Delegation on a Panel Discussion Stand With Ukraine At MIPTV 2022

MIPTV 2022 kicked off on the 4th of April. For the first time in the history of the media market, the Ukrainian delegation took part in the official opening of the event. That day, a panel discussion Stand With Ukraine featuring the representatives of the top Ukrainian media players kicked off as a part of the MIPTV 2022 official program. 

For the first time in the history of MIPTV, Ukraine participated in the official opening of the event. Ukrainian representative Victoria Yarmoshchuk, CEO of FILM.UA Group and the head of the Ukrainian Film Association,  has cut the ceremonial ribbon along with  MIP Markets' Director Lucy Smith, President of RX France Michel Filzi, Mayor of Cannes David Lisnard, Managing Director of RX Frances Michel Vilair, General Director of Canneseries Benoit Louvet, and President of Palais des Festivals Cannes Jean-Michel Arnaud.

Also on that day, the panel discussion “Stand with Ukraine” within the official program has featured Victoria Yarmoshuk (CEO FILM.UA Group), Iryna Chernyak (Director of Content Acquisition and Monetization department at Ukraine TV Channels), Inna Filipova (Head of Sales at 1+1 media), Kateryna Shevelyuk (Head of fiction production department at STB, StarLightMedia). 

“This time, our task at MIPTV is to combine forces of the Ukrainian media industry and to unite Europe. We can persevere only by standing together. We have learned this lesson over the last month, and we want to share this vision with the world,” – said Victoria Yarmoshuk, CEO of FILM.UA Group.

During the panel, the speakers have touched upon a possible Eastern European alliance and the establishment of a special fund for Ukrainian content acquisition. Furthermore, FILM.UA Distribution already pledged some content pertinent to current landmark events like the drama series There Will Be People.

Discussions about co-production opportunities after the war and novel ways of international cooperation also take place at MIPTV.

According to representatives of the Ukrainian delegation, now is the time when the Ukrainian media industry is open to strategic partnership and needs support from current and prospective partners more than ever.
