The preparation of the screenplay for the romantic comedy ‘Chervona Ruta’ is finished.
The script was developed by Pavlo Arye – a well renowned Ukrainian playwright. He is an author of the cult classic play ‘At The Beginning and the End of Times’ (2013), it was staged under the name ‘Stalkers’ and was performed for many years, with notable success. He was also involved in creating of the mystical thriller ‘The Gateway’, starring Irma Vitovska. The screenplay for ‘Chervona Ruta’ was created with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
The inspiration for the screenplay was found in songs written by Volodymyr Ivasyuk, well renowned amongst Ukrainians. The ones like: ‘Ya Pidu V Daleki Hory’, ‘Vodohray’, ‘Chervona Ruta’, ‘Zhovtyi Lyst’ to name a few. Plot specifics are kept secret, however, it is known that it takes place in our day and is filled with comical and romantic situations.
The original author and a producer of the film Natalka Yakimovich comments on the news: “In actuality, the screenplay is only a starting point of the work on the project! I am very grateful to the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation for their support. We’ve already developed a presentation package and search for partners. I believe that next year we'll enter the production stage, and songs of Volodymyr Ivasyuk will acquire the new sound from the big screen. I think ‘Chervona Ruta’ will become a film to unite different generations”.
At the moment, the team is deliberating on locations and artistic direction and consultations with directors are pending. And the next year the film’s team plan to compete for the grant of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation for the full feature film production.
