FILM.UA Group and Animagrad studio are pleased to announce the all-Ukrainian theatrical project: "The Stolen Princess" performance based upon the animated film of the same name, which will be toured throughout Ukraine this autumn.
Now the screen feels too small for Ruslan and Lyudmila, Nestor and Khomyak, Chornomor and Prince Vladimir. This autumn, the film characters, so much fancied by the Ukrainians, will try their best to conquer the real world and become even closer to the viewers! During the autumn holidays the performance named "The Stolen Princess" will be presented in the concert halls of Ukraine. It will become a joint project of FILM.UA Group together with Magic Box and Skazki Sluchayutsia (“Сказки случаются”) studios.
The first performance will be held on October 27 in Cherkasy. The premiere of the play will take place on October 28 in Kyiv, in the concert hall of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. In Sumy, the performance will be shown on November 29, in Kharkiv – on October 30, in Dnipro – on October 31, in Kryvyi Rih - on November 1, in Vinnytsia - on November 2, in Kherson – on November 3, in Odessa – on November 4.
It should be reminded that the animated feature film "The Stolen Princess" was released on March 7 this year and became the incontestable hit of the Ukrainian film distribution. During the very first weekend, the film was viewed by 285 784 people, and its box office was 21 489 581 UAH, which was a new record for the films produced in Ukraine. More than 50 countries have acquired the right to show the movie, and now "The Stolen Princess" continues to conquer viewers’ hearts in other countries and on the distant continents.
The performance will be rich in adventures, full of magic, humor and good music. The plot of the performance is based on the story of the cartoon: the traveling actor Ruslan and the Kyiv Princess Mila happens to meet on the ancient Kyiv streets. They fall in love with each other, but the happiness of the lovers is ruined as soon as the evil sorcerer Chernomor appears and kidnaps the princess. Ruslan, together with his friends and helpers, starts chasing the stolen princess to prove that true love is stronger than magic.
Skazki Sluchayutsia (“Сказки случаются”) studio team was engaged in the direction of the play and in the embodiment of the favorite characters on the stage. Katerina Polyanskaya, the founder of the studio, became the producer of the play, as well as its director together with her partner Yevgeny Bushmakin. Nikolai Kosciuszko from the Kiev Academic Theater on Lypky is the art director of the play.
Apart from the original soundtrack, a musical design will also include the compositions of a young musical duet called Nude Voices that has already become so fancied by the Ukrainian audience. The finalists of the Holos Krainy («Голос країни») talent show will write and perform two new songs specifically for the play.
Choreography director Andrei Sidorko is responsible for the dance part of the performance. He directs the stage performances for Open Kids, and the videos for such singers as MONATIK, Nastya Kamenskikh, Ruslana and D Lemma regularly becoming the winner of various international festivals. All the dance scenes will be staged under his guidance.
In order to make our story as captivating as possible for its little viewers in different cities of the country, the unique characters’ costumes and fascinating scenery were developed for the play. They will help to recreate the fantastic world of the favorite cartoon on stage.
Creating the performance based on the animated film will be the first experience of this kind for FILM.UA Group, and we really hope that it will continue bringing success to "The Stolen Princess". The performance will be interesting for family viewing; however, the main audience of this play comprises children aged 5 to 12 years.
Magic Box team, which is the co-producer of the performance, will be engaged in organizing a tour around the cities of Ukraine. The Ukrainian tour will begin at the end of October, and during the autumn holidays, the play will be staged in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Kherson, and Kryvyi Rih.
