Filming for Choosing her way melodrama started

In Kyiv, filming of four-episode melodrama Choosing her waystarted; the project is jointly produced by FILM.UA and channel Ukraine. The film was directed by Anna Gres (The Road to nowhere, Milkmaid from Hatsapetovka), and the lead roles played by Maria Valeshnaya, Sergey Kolos, Kirill Zhandarov and Vitaliy Saliy.v

“This is a story about a woman choosing her destiny. She gives up comfort and riches to gain something that is currently valued so little – honesty, dignity and real masculinity,” says Anna Gres, film director. “I became interested in the project mostly due to a captivating plot – the audience won’t immediately guess if the characters are what they seem. Each one has their own truth, and you can’t label anyone as purely positive or negative character; all of them fight for their destinies.”

Synopsis: Natasha (Maria Valeshnaya) and Viktor (Sergey Kolos) dream about a child, but they haven’t managed to become parents in 10 years of their marriage. Mother-in-law blames Natalya for everything, and Viktor starts to gradually pull away from the family. Suddenly, an old school friend Alexander (Kirill Zhandarov) comes back into Natasha’s life. It is hard to believe that this successful, confident and handsome man is the same shy Sasha who used to be her heartsick lover. Husband’s betrayal and dismissal from the job she liked so much bring Natasha to the verge of despair, but old friend’s support and accidental acquaintance with Nikolay (Vitaliy Saliy) change her life radically. It looks like destiny is willing to give Natasha a second chance… But it immediately delivers a new blow. Only the devoted Sasha is always by her side in hard times. Still, who is he really: a faithful friend or a reason for all her misfortunes?

“Except this being a really good story and a great team coming together, it is very important for us that we are making this series together with channel Ukraine, enjoying real partnership and great understanding. We enjoy cooperation on this project and really hope that the audience will highly appreciate it,” says Elena Malkova, FILM.UA Group producer.  

Anna Gres knew who to cast for leading roles when still reading the script. “All actors were interested in taking part. Moreover, Kirill Zhandarov shaved his head upon my request. Kirill’s career in TV series hasn’t yet seen such character, and for me as a director it is a fascinating challenge to make a totally different character out of him, both in appearance and acting manner. I am sure that all our plans will come alive,” says project director. Kirill Zhandarov will be accompanied at the set by Maria Valeshnaya, Sergey Kolos, Vitaliy Saliy, Olga Atanasova, Olga Morozova, Tatyana Sheliga, Aleksey Cherevatenko, Alexander Yarema, and Iryna Melnik.

Filming will take place in Kyiv until mid-June, and Choosing her way melodrama will be premiered on Ukraina TV channel in 2017.
