The first Ukrainian fantasy film about superheroes The Stronghold directed by Yury Kovaliov will be released on October 12, 2017. The film based on a book with the same title by Vladimir Rutkovsky will be distributed by Ukrainian Film Distribution company.
“We really appreciate the attitude of Ukrainian Film Distribution towards Ukrainian releases. Our opinion about Ukrainian films totally coincides with theirs: they are not just something the audience and Ukraine in general needs; their release can and should become a profitable business. We understand that a lot should be done for it, and we are ready to follow this way through together,” says Egor Olesov, the project’s producer.
In February The Stronghold, the first Ukrainian fantasy film for family viewing, will be presented at the European Film Market held between February 9 and 17 under the aegis of Berlin International Film Festival.
Just a reminder: the rights to film demonstration were sold still at the filming stage to Italy, Spain, Iran, Japan, France and French-speaking territories. Besides, a pre-sale agreement was signed with China. Negotiations with Germany and Latin American countries are under way.
FILM.UA Group deals with the film’s distribution and post-production, and StarLightMedia provides media support for it; both companies are members of #KinoKraina initiative group. Ukrainain state film agensy is also involved in the work on the film.
