Several days ago, Ukrainian Film School was opened. It is a new platform for training film production experts created on the basis of and in partnership withFILM.UA Group. 83 future actors, DOPs, directors and screenwriters got together at the biggest Eastern European film studio to fulfill their dream No. 1, which is to make films and to make it to the film screen!

Careful preparation for the launch had taken several months. This included development of unique programs, negotiations with partners and speakers, redecoration and equipping of specialized classrooms and, naturally, interviews with future students.

Hundreds of applications were sent to Ukrainian Film School, and only those who had made it through three rounds of interviews obtained an opportunity to learn from the best teachers who work in contemporary cinema, to film student works on the same set with famous directors and DOPs, to fight for a scholarship from  New York Film Academy, to receive an offer of cooperation from FILM.UA  studio and to get to know the world of cinema directly.

The first person to greet the students was Viktor Mirsky, FILM.UA studio general producer: “We dreamed of creating a place where the world of film and television merge, a place where like-minded people could meet and talk about creative work. And we are moving towards this goal step by step. The new stage of it is the opening of a film school! We are interested in attracting new people, new resources, new viewpoints and ideas, and we have great hopes for the future graduates of Ukrainian Film School!”

The head of Ukrainian Film School Alyona Timoshenko briefly told about the history of school creation and revealed some secrets of its development plan: “Six years ago, we created FILM.UA acting school. It was a successful experience, and many of our graduates are now participating in high-profile projects. This year we understood that we can expand the number of specializations, and there is demand for that at the market. So today Ukrainian Film School opens its doors for students who would like to become directors, actors, screenwriters and DOPs. With such impressive lecturers I am sure about our success”.

There were more inspirational speeches for the students from the course tutors who are real professionals in their work: DOP Yaroslav Pilunsky, director Oleg Turansky, screenwriter Andrey Babik and actor Maksim Mikhaylichenko.

To finish the official part, FILM.UA Group co-founder Sergey Sozanovsky remembered an old industry tradition and concluded by breaking a plate to a storm of applause from students and guests: “Now is the great time for changes and it is a crazy chance! I think we’ll manage! To our cinema!” The pieces were gathered by everyone present to join them together at the graduation party.

Ukrainian Film School has a lot of interesting things in stock for this academic year: three-day intensive courses, new specializations and events.
