A master class called "Virtual Reality: technology and prospects" will take place September 20th within KIEV MEDIA WEEK 2016 in partnership with FILM.UA Faculty at Hyatt Regency Kiev

Technology development, dynamic as it is, presupposes now that it is no longer enough for a viewer to see the motion picture, not so even in 3D. For the sake of a more comprehensive perception of the generated world within the picture, the computer systems now imitate interaction with virtual environment by affecting all five human senses. VR (Virtual Reality) technology is a rapidly developing technological domain, now able to give content developers an opportunity to expand interaction with end user by providing new prospects. 

The master class "Virtual reality: technology and prospects" will cover the following issues:

- VR technology – overview and capabilities

- provenance of VR

- review of existing technologies and insider information on their discrepancies

- VR content formats, methods of their monetization

- why is VR media?

-     examples from BBC Studio 

Tom Burton

The master class will be lead by Tom Burton, the leading innovation and technology expert at BBC Studios, department of digital storytelling (UK), the author of Home: Spacewalk Experience – a well-known project for a virtual trip over the International Space Station, BBC innovation project manager.

Tom Burton has been a digital creative and technologist with a specialism in innovation and over 20 years of experience in the industry. He is currently a leading interactive & technology for BBC Studios and their innovation team. Also a trustee and founder of a theatre and creative tech collective Raucous and previously an agency founder and consultant for businesses, startups and organisations.

Working at BBC in the VR industry, Tom is the manager for an award-winning VR project Home: Spacewalk Experience, he also works as a strategic consultant and leads global partner initiatives.

Moreover, within the seminar FILM.UA Group will introduce their achivements in developing VR 360 content.

The master-class will take place September 20th 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Paris conference room of Hyatt Regency Kiev (5 Alla Tarasova Street, Kiev, Ukraine). 

The attendance of the master-class is free of charge for the participants of any of the paid KIEV MEDIA WEEK events. For those wishing to only attend the master-class the participation fee is UAH 150. (the fee can be paid on the spot on the day of the event).
