5th Beijing International Film Festival held its awards ceremony. A total of 15 films from 14 countries were set to compete for this year's 'Tiantan Awards'. The main acting prize – for best actress — went to Yuliya Peresild for “The Battle For Sevastopol” (Ukraine/Russia).

"I fell in love with my character. This woman was made up of paradoxes. All that happened to her was not possible, but still it did. This story is deeply psychological, - says Julia Peresild. - It seems that this could not happen. But it did. And I tried to live it through. This is a role of which I can speak seriously and with pride. And if I was offered a role similar in the emotional sense and energy costs, I'd be happy to play it."

Premiere of Battle for Sevastopol took place in China on April 18th during the festival. The audience loved the film, highly appreciated the computer graphics (produced by POSTMODERN) and the music for the film. A jury consisting of director Kim Ki-duk, director Fernando Meireles, screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen, director Fyodor Bondarchuk, director Peter Chan and actress Zhou Xun, with the lead of Luc Besson presented the award to Yulia Peresild for Best Actress.

April 2 Battle for Sevastopol was released in Ukraine and Russia. The film became the first national project that was distributed by 20th Century Fox. During the first two weeks of its release in Ukraine drama about the life of Lyudmila Pavlichenko collected more than 10 million hryvnia, and became the highest grossing Ukrainian premiere in the history of the domestic box office.

Battle for Sevastopol is a real life story of a Ukrainian girl-sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko who killed more than 300 enemies in the first ten months of the Second World War. Pavlichenko became the first Soviet woman who managed to make friends with Eleanor Roosevelt. And Lyudmila's speech in Chicago greatly influenced the decision on the opening of a second front.

The story of Lyudmila Pavlichenko will be seen in Japan, Thailand and South Korea. Representatives of FILM.UA Distribution continue talks on selling the film in Bulgaria, Poland, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and China.

On May 9th channel "Ukraine" will premiere a 4-episode television version of the film.
