April 13-15 Cannes hosted the international market of audio-visual content MIPTV 2015. Traditionally FILM.UA Distribution presented FILM.UA Group projects and is ready to share first results of the trip.
"We feel that Ukraine is now in trend. If we talk specifically about FILM.UA, then we are taken as a serious market player, we are interesting and people want to work with us, - says sales manager Evgeniy Drachov. - Colleagues visit our booth purposefully and are interested in what we can offer, what projects we brought, etc. We are known, we are trusted, people see our results and have treated us as a potential partner".
"All the colleagues said that this market was less active than the one in autumn. But for us it was rather the opposite - stand was visited by many participants, in certain we're lacking tables and chairs - says CEO FILM.UA Distribution Igor Storchak. - We spent a lot of effective meetings. In particular, actively seek opportunities for foreign co-production and in the near future we hope to share the news about it".
This year's stand was visited by many FILM.UA Distribution partners from Western Europe as well as China and South Asian countries. A pleasant surprise was the interest in the projects from Thailand colleagues. In particular, an agreement was concluded on the sale of a complete package of rights to such films as "Werewolf Hunt", "The Bomber", "Black Sheep" and series "The Sniffer". "They do like action, and the world is already sated with Hollywood content, so the channels look for new independent projects - says Evgeniy. - We offer a quality product that does not carry any political or ideological burden - and people like it".
Also, detective series The Sniffer was very popular distributors. The second season is sold in Bulgaria, and negotiations contine on the sale of the series to one of the major Italian television channels. FILM.UA Distribution concluded a deal to extend the rights to the show "Mystical Tales" (FILM.UA Television) in Lithuania, sold the rights to all seasons in Latvia, and soon docudrama will air in Estonia on local TV. "As a rule, the Estonian-language channels do not accept the content in Russian, but we already had a successful experience of cooperation - a year ago, we signed the first agreement on such films as "Vanga","Vasily Stalin" and "The Sniffer" - and partners were very pleased with the TV viewing results TV viewing", - said Drachov.
Despite the fact that MIPTV is first of all a market of television content, a film Battle for Sevastopol aroused a huge interest. Negotiations are held with Bulgaria, Polish TV channels, as well as with Turkey and representatives of the United Arab Emirates. The film was presented in competition at the 5th Beijing International Film Festival and by Chinese distributors. Negotiations are underway to sell it to China. We already know that the story of Lyudmila Pavlichenko will be seen in Japan and South Korea.
