FILM.UA and Okean Elzy started to work on a feature documentary for theatrical release. Project is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the creation of the legendary Ukrainian rock band.
"With high probability we can say that in the history of nation and Ukrainian statehood in the twenty-first century, a strange phrase Okean Elzy will be written in capital letters, if not in gold" - says the director of the film, Ukrainian documentary filmmaker Sergei Bukovsky.
The basis of the film will be unique shooting of the anniversary tour and will take place on the largest stadiums of the six cities. Emotions of hundreds of thousands of spectators, the work of musicians, backstage, rehearsals, sound checks - everything will be carefully documented and become the material for the film.
Unique archives collected over the past twenty years as well as interviews with musicians will be also be used in the film.
Main heroes of the film will not only include Vakarchuk and the group, but also Okean Elzy's fans of different age, nationality and social status.
A real Dream Team is now working on the film: director Sergey Bukovsky, cinematographer Sergei Mikhalchuk, sound director Sergey Stepanskiy.
Release is scheduled for 2015.
There will be also created a broadcast version of the grand concert in Kiev, which will be held June 21, 2014 at the NSC "Olympic". Famous British director of photography Andy Horner was invited to shoot the live footage. The shooting process will involve the latest camera technologies. The most powerful OB van in Ukraine, telescopic cranes, radio controlled helicopters, autonomous TimeLapse technique. All of this will create high-quality, bright, three-dimensional image. Great attention will be paid to the audio recording: for the first time in Ukraine a new technology will be used to maximize the involvement of the audience in the atmosphere of a live concert.
